II GORZYCE WIELKIE CHESS FESTIVAL
22.01.2016 - 24.01.2016

On Friday 22nd January, the II Gorzyce Wielkie Chess Festival
in Gorzyce Wielkie took off.

Initially, 20 contestants met to compete in a chess trivia competition.
Questions pertaining to current chess events in Poland and worldwide, as well as historical events, proved not much of a challenge – particularly to five participants.

Last-year winner Robert Adamek (Poznań) and the chief editor of Mat magazine and chess history enthusiast Paweł Dudziński (OTSz Ostrów Wielkopolski) handled questions just excellently and we had to add extra-time, during which 5 additional questions of increased difficulty were asked. Both participants managed to solve the test unmistakably! In line with the terms and conditions of the tournament, in such an event the contestant who solved the test in a shorter time wins.
The winner was Paweł Dudziński!

Very good results were obtained by Magdalena Judek (Śmigiel), Wojciech Biela (GKS Gorzyce Wielkie) and Jerzy Kątny (GKS Gorzyce Wielkie).

All chess problems were solved correctly by Robert Adamek (Poznań), Maciej Chmielarz (OTSz Ostrów Wielkopolski) i Krzysztof Markiewicz (Orły Pleszew). The top score was obtained in extra-time by Maciej Chmielarz, who became the new champion in chess trivia.

Awards for 7 correct answers were presented to Wojciech Biela (GKS Gorzyce Wielkie), Magdalena Judek (Śmigiel), Robert Kątny (MUKS Wieża Kórnicka Kórnik), Eugeniusz Murawski (UKS Skoczek Milicz), Arkadiusz Wronka (GKS Gorzyce Wielkie) and Ryszard Zielazny (GKS Gorzyce Wielkie).
